The ICOLD Young Professionals Forum (YPF) aims to inspire and guide the next generation to actively engage and shape the future of ICOLD. Focusing on young professionals, embarking on the early stages of their careers.

Mentoring Sessions in ICOLD 2025

Following the highly appreciated mentoring sessions at the Congress in Marseille 2022, we are excited to announce a new round of mentoring sessions during the upcoming Congress in Chengdu. This initiative aims to foster meaningful connections and knowledge exchange between experienced professionals and young delegates in a relaxed and interactive setting.

 Session Details

 - Format: Informal roundtable discussions during lunch breaks.

 - Duration: Approximately 45 minutes per session.

 - Structure: Each roundtable will feature one mentor and 7 young professionals, focusing on a topic proposed by the mentor.

 - Preparation: Mentors are encouraged to prepare a brief introduction about themselves, their professional background, and the chosen discussion topic.

 - Application Process: Young professionals will select and apply for the mentor and topic that most interests them.

 - Lunch: Lunch will be served during or after the session to facilitate a comfortable and engaging atmosphere.

 Purpose of the Mentoring Sessions

 - Encourage the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and ideas between seasoned professionals and young delegates.

 - Provide mentors with a platform to share their engineering philosophy, raise awareness on important subjects, and offer advice and inspiration based on personal experiences.

 - Expand professional networks on an international scale.

 Suggested Discussion Topics

 Mentors are invited to propose topics that align with their expertise and interests. Examples include:

 - Specific technical or interdisciplinary subjects.

 - Career development and specialization.

 - Lessons learned from particular projects.

 - Sustainability in engineering.

 - Leadership and innovation.

 A full list of topics discussed during the Marseille 2022 Congress is available upon request. 


Call for Candidates

Call for the candidates will be open soon.

Requirements:

· YPF board members serve a three-year term.

· Candidates must be endorsed by the National Committee they represent.
· Each National Committee can endorse a maximum of one candidate.
· It is preferred that each ICOLD region is represented on the YPF board to ensure diversity.
· Candidates are expected to attend the ICOLD annual meeting in person for the duration of their term.
· Please note that you need to be under 40 years old for the entire duration of the term.
